About Us (WHO WE ARE)
The Constructors Association of Pakistan (CAP) represents the nation’s leading construction and infrastructure contracting companies. Established in 1998, CAP was formed to serve as a unified body dedicated to safeguarding the interests of constructors and contractors across the country.
Recognized under Section-3 of the Trade Organization Ordinance 1961, CAP operates under a license issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan (DGTO). It is also a key member of the Executive Committee and General Body of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).
Membership & Industry Recognition
CAP membership is open to all construction companies operating in Pakistan, subject to the conditions outlined in its Memorandum and Articles of Association and approval by the Executive Committee.
Through CAP’s efforts, the construction sector has been officially recognized as an industry, making it eligible for fiscal incentives, special treatments, and other benefits as per Pakistan’s Investment Policy. These benefits have been formalized through government notifications No. F-10 (10) IF-II/98 on April 7, 1999, and F. No. 10 (10) IF-II/98 on June 4, 1999 issued by the Finance Division (Investment Wing).
The Role of the Construction Industry
The construction sector is the backbone of economic development, playing a vital role in nation-building and infrastructure growth. Globally, developed nations have prioritized construction during their growth phases, leading to industrial and economic leadership.
In Pakistan, the construction industry is a major driver of employment, generating opportunities for millions of skilled and unskilled workers. It stands as the second-largest employment sector after agriculture, significantly contributing to the country’s economic progress.
Objectives of CAP
• Promote and Protect the Construction Industry:
CAP aims to foster the growth and safeguard the interests of the construction sector in Pakistan.
• Advocate for Members:
The association represents its members in discussions with government bodies and other organizations, ensuring their voices are heard in policy-making processes.
• Enhance Professional Standards:
CAP is committed to elevating the professional standards within the construction industry, promoting best practices and ethical conduct.
• Facilitate Networking and Collaboration:
The association provides a platform for members to connect, share knowledge, and collaborate on projects, fostering a sense of community within the industry.
